Dr. Qiang Zhu is a PI in the Department of Chemical Biology, Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Before he joined GIBH in May 2008, he worked for XTL Biopharmaceuticals (Oct. 2005 to Jan. 2008) and VivoQuest Inc. (Apr. 2001 to Oct. 2005) as a medicinal chemist on anti-HCV drug development. He received his Ph.D. degree on total synthesis of natural marine product from the State Key Laboratory of Bio-organic and Natural Products, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), CAS in 2000 under the supervision of Prof. Yu-lin Wu. He did his postdoctoral study with Marc Greenberg at Colorado State University (CSU) (Aug. 2000 to Mar. 2001) before he moved to New York to join VivoQuest.

Dr. Zhu's research interest mainly focuses on (1) Developing novel methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds from fuctionalized isocyanides; (2) Asymmetric carbonylation and imidoylation reactions; (3) Compound library construction and lead identification.
